Attaching an External Modem to a Prilink base unit:
An external modem can be attached to the COM port of a Prilink base unit to allow remote dial-up access from PrilinkII software. Although any modem brand may be used, Prilink recommends a US Robotics V.92 modem with the following dip switch settings (correct position for each switch is highlighted in green):

| DOWN | No echo, offline commands | |
| 5 | UP | Auto answer on first ring, or higher if specified in NVRAM |
| DOWN | Auto answer off | |
| 6 | UP | Carrier detect normal |
| DOWN | Carrier detect override | |
| 7 | UP | Load NVRAM defaults |
| DOWN | Load factory defaults | |
| 8 | UP | Dumb mode |
| DOWN | Smart mode | |
